‘Satoshi’ cruise ship, formerly known as Pacific Dawn, is planning to host cryptopreneurs, enthusiasts, and digital nomads in its new home on the Gulf Panama. The ship that was formerly operated by Princess Cruises and P&L Australia will belong to Ocean Builders, which builds innovative floating seapod homes.
“We look forward to creating a hub for technology and innovation here in Panama. Our goal is to figure out how to live sustainably on the sea and chart new waters in this new frontier.”
The Crypto Cruise Ship
Satoshi is fondly being referred to as ‘The Crypto Cruise Ship’, which will embrace the concept of ‘seasteading’ where people live in homes on the sea away from government territory. Elwartowski, a Bitcoin entrepreneur and a key investor in Ocean Builders, believes that the cruise ship will offer an innovative hub and office space for crypto research. There will also be vacation rentals for families and interested parties.
“Our idea for families with children is to buy a balcony or ocean view room for the parents and purchase a cheaper interior room across the hall for the children. We would like to think of your cabin as your bedroom while your living room is the rest of the ship.”
According to Ocean Builders, there are 777 cabins available that can occupy 2,020 people. The cabins’ auctions will run from November 5 to November 28 once Ocean Builders takes ownership of the cruise ship. The tentative price for the cabins is between $25,000 and $50,000. The ship’s residents will have access to restaurants, the kitchen, casinos, and a fitness centre. In line with driving crypto adoption, the cruise ship will accept Bitcoin payment in all its amenities.
If all goes to plan, the ship’s residency will be ready by early 2021.
